About the Evidence Lookup

Select a clinical condition to see every modality in the Epoché Clinical dataset that has been studied or applied for that presentation, sorted by evidence tier. Tiers reflect the strength of the research base: guideline-recommended (included in NICE, APA, VA/DoD, or WHO treatment guidelines), RCT-supported (multiple randomized controlled trials or meta-analyses), emerging (pilot studies or limited controlled research), and no RCTs (case literature or theoretical rationale only). Frameworks that inform clinical practice but are not standalone treatments are listed separately.

Evidence tiers are derived from published guideline recommendations, Cochrane reviews, and meta-analytic data cited in each modality's source record. They do not represent this site's clinical endorsement of any approach. Absence from guidelines does not mean a modality is ineffective — it may reflect the cost and difficulty of conducting large-scale trials, particularly for relationally intensive or philosophically distinct approaches that resist manualization.

This tool is designed for clinicians comparing treatment options for a specific presenting problem, students learning to read the evidence landscape, and supervisors discussing evidence-informed practice. All 22 conditions in the dataset are available, from depression and anxiety to grief, psychosis, and existential concerns.
